Meeting of the Sydney Housekeeping fraternity - Past and Present – Housekeeping Management post Covid in Sydney, NSW

Liz had the chance to meet up with some of the past and present Housekeeping Management fraternity of Sydney this week. An opportunity to catch up and talk about the state of Housekeeping operations in Sydney, post covid. Like everywhere in the world, Sydney is coming out of the covid era and trying hard to regain the previous 2019 status.

With a lot of Hotels either 100% outsourced or using Agency as top-up, everyone is still struggling to get enough Room Attendants to clean rooms, though its slowly improving. There was also a feeling within the group that there is a gap in up-and-coming Housekeeping Management talent. The next generation of Executive Housekeepers and Assistants is sometimes hard to fill, and this is making it tougher for the industry to move forward. Great opportunities ahead for anyone considering Housekeeping management as a future career.

At the gathering, Chona Ogilvie Ogilive from IHS, Grace Esogon from Crown Plaza Terrigal, Keke Stewart Steward from The Grace, Renugah Jagadisan from Carnival Australia – P&O Cruises Australia, Susie Soria from Rydges, Kevin Ball from St Paul’s College, Maureen Jolowicz, ex Radisson Plaza, Lalini De Silva Da Silva ex Star and now Love That Energy, Nela Neves ex Holiday Inn and Josselyne Henin ex Renaissance/Fairmont
